Design Process

To confirm your order there is a small deposit payable before any work begins. This is usually a minimum payment of £40 or for larger projects 20% of the total cost. The remaining balance is only payable once you are happy with the finished design, and before you receive the final artwork.

The general process for all design work is:

Deposit // first draft // amendments // on screen proofing // final payment //receive artwork

Once you have paid your deposit, the first draft is drawn up. After you have received the first draft there is an opportunity for one main set of amendments, if you need to make any changes to the drawing. You must aim to make all requests for alterations at this stage.

The final draft will then be sent to you for proofing, to check spellings etcetera before signing off the design. When you are happy with the design you will be invoiced for the final amount before receiving the finished artwork.

For larger projects and wedding stationery there will be a second opportunity for amendments if needed.

Did you know..? Every piece of work I produce starts life as a pencil drawing, sketched out on paper then drawn in pen. Sometimes this drawing is painted and sent straight to the customer, if they have ordered a one-off original painting. But most of the time it is scanned after being inked – then it can be coloured on the computer and made into a digital file ready for printing.

Please do get in touch early to allow enough time to create your design. There is often a waiting list, so it is important to give as much time as possible to ensure we can accommodate every order.

The timescale varies according to the size of your project, and is dependent on your response time as well as our drawing time, as we rely on your feedback to ensure we are getting the design just right.

For standard wedding maps, please allow at least 14 days for your first draft, and up to 28 days for completion including amendments and printing. Occasionally, during busy periods it may take longer than the usual 28 days. In this instance you will be notified before work begins.

Invitation suites from the Collection take around 2 weeks to process and print, from the point at which you have supplied all your information.

Bespoke wedding stationery will take a minimum of 8 weeks. Only 5 bookings a year are taken for bespoke invitation suites, so please get in touch early to book your space.

Fast-track – When available, this service allows you to speed up your order: in this case we aim to complete the project within 7 days or less.

Delivery charge for small packages is £4 and £10 for large packages over 2kg.

Small packages are posted via Royal Mail 1st class recorded delivery.
Large parcels are sent via courier for next day delivery.

Please try to give as comprehensive a brief as possible at the start of the project, so that we can get the first draft as close to perfect as possible, and avoid too many amendments down the line.

During the design process you have one main opportunity to make reasonable amendments to the drawing (or two rounds for larger projects).

There are certain requests after the first draft has been drawn that would be considered beyond the reasonable amendments included within the price. These include changes to the dimensions (shape) of the drawing, adding more than 3 additional venues, or any changes that require a large amount of redrawing after the first draft.

However, nothing is impossible so please don’t be afraid to ask for any changes you need. We would never leave a job half done or a client unhappy! Any additional charges for big alterations will always be discussed with you first.

Beyond the amendments included within the design price, any further alterations will be charged at an hourly rate of £20 p/h, in order to cover the additional time involved. You will always be notified in advance if there are going to be any additional charges.

Preferred payment method is via BACS bank transfer. You will be sent an invoice for each instalment, and a receipt once the payment has cleared.
International payments can be made via PayPal.
